Shazam!: The Lure of the Lost is the fourth episode of Season 1 of the 1974-76 series Shazam! It is the first part of a two-part episode that concludes with Shazam!: The Road Back.
Plot[]
Billy Batson and Mentor/Shazam! are on their travels in the motor home. Mentor has classical music playing on the radio, but Billy switches it to rock-and-roll to Mentor's chagrin. At this point, the Elders call.
The Elders tell Billy he is about to meet a young woman who is confused about her responsibilities, namely to her brother. As is the true Elders' fashion, the rest is for Billy to figure out. Almost immediately, he and Mentor run upon a young woman named Holly whose car has run off the road.
Billy and Mentor try to move her car by their own strength. Billy has the idea to call on Captain Marvel, but Mentor reminds him he should never use his powers just for the sake of convenience. They agree to push while Holly hits the accelerator. They are successful, but Holly just speeds off without stopping to thank them. They notice that Holly left without her handbag and discover a plastic bag of dope. Billy sees what the Elders told him earlier and gets on his motorcycle and decides to follow Holly to find out the truth.
When Billy gets to Holly, he finds out that her brother Gary and his friend Mark have become involved with a drug dealer named Brok. Holly is expected to give the dope to Gary and Mark to make a delivery.
Holly and Billy arrive at Gary's place and Billy tries to help Holly convince Gary to get out of the deal and go to the police. Mark is having none of it and even goes so far as to falsely recognize Billy from a time he spent at a detention camp. He then pressures Billy to give him the dope and Billy hands him a bag, but it is not the real stuff. Gary and Mark then leave to make their delivery, but Billy hands Holly the real stuff and tells her to turn it in to the police. However, Holly instead empties the bag down a sink drain.
Billy leaves to follow the boys to find out about Brok, but can't start Holly's car. Fortunately, Mentor arrives with the motorcycle. As Billy follows, his way is blocked by another motorist. Realizing he may lose the boys, Billy decides to become Captain Marvel and continue his pursuit.
Along the way, Marvel moves a stalled semi-truck that is blocking the road and gets ahead of the boys and stops them, but Mark speeds off as Marvel moves out of the way. Gary frantically tries to get Mark to pull off and stop, but Mark is intent on completing the delivery. The car spins out of control and is on the verge of rolling off the cliff when Marvel catches up and pushes the boys to safety.
The boys apologize to Marvel for speeding off. Gary agrees to go to the police about Brok. Mentor arrives with Holly, and Holly confesses she poured the drugs down the drain instead of going to the police. So, now there is no evidence of Brok's drug dealing. Mentor and Marvel decide to stay near the situation as the episode ends.
