Sharknado is an American television movie that combines elements of action, science fiction, horror and comedy. It is the first installment in the Sharknado film series and was directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, with a script written by Thunder Levin. It was produced by The Asylum and premiered on Syfy on July 11th, 2013. The film stars Ian Ziering as Fin Shepard - a bar owner who finds himself pushed into the role of reluctant hero when he has to save his ex-wife and kid from the ravages of a tornado. Not just any tornado, mind you, but a Sharknado - which is a tornado filled with flying, voracious, man-eating sharks. Will the world survive? Will humanity survive? Will our sensibilities survive? Not even Fin knows the answers for sure.
