- Shang-Chi was created by writer Steve Englehart and writer & artist Jim Starlin. He first appeared in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December, 1973. He then branched off into his first ongoing comic book series, Master of Kung Fu, which ran from 1974 to 1983, spanning a total of 125 issues.
