Notes & Trivia
- The character of Hawkman was created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Joe Kubert. He first appeared in The Brave and the Bold #34 in February-March, 1961 in a story titled "Creature of a Thousand Shapes!" The character is inspired by a previous iteration named Carter Hall, who was created by Gardner Fox and artist Dennis Neville. This character was introduced in Flash Comics #1 in January, 1940.
- Shadow War of Hawkman and The Shadow War of Hawkman both redirect to this page.
- Issues from this series shipped in both direct market edition and newsstand editions.
- This is the third comic book series to bear the name Hawkman in its title. The first was a team-up book called Atom and Hawkman, which was a continuation of the first The Atom ongoing series. The second was Hawkman, Volume 1, which ran for 27 issues from 1964-1968.
- Members of the Justice League of America make guest appearances in issues #3-4.
- This series is associated with Pre-Crisis Earth-One continuity and is not considered strictly canon per Post-Crisis continuity. This is due in large measure to the 1990 Hawkworld ongoing series, which establishes that Katar Hol and Shayera Thal do not arrive on Earth until the current era. To reconcile older stories that they formerly appeared in, the roles of Katar Hol and Shayera Thal have been retroactively attributed to Fel Andar and Sharon Parker.
