The Secret Society of Super-Villains, or SSV, is a fictional uhh... secret society of super-villains. They are featured in comic books published by DC Comics. There have been different versions of the group depending upon the era of publication, and whichever continuity DC titles were being placed in at the time. The original SSV was part of Earth-One continuity and first appeared in Secret Society of Super-Villains #1 in 1976. Another group of villains who went by this name hailed from the reality of Earth-Two where they fought up against aging members of the Justice Society of America. This group was introduced in Justice League of America #195 in 1981. In Post-Crisis continuity, the group was rebranded as The Society and made their first appearance in JSA #70 in April, 2005. The team was re-imagined for the New 52 continuity and appeared in Justice League, Volume 2 #6 in April, 2012.
