"Secret Origins: The Crimson Avenger" is the title to the fifth issue of the superhero fantasy comic book series Secret Origins, Volume 2. This issue features the character of Lee Travis, the Crimson Avenger. The story was written by Roy & Dann Thomas, with artwork by Gene Colan and inks by Mike Gustovich. It was colored by Carl Gafford and lettered by David Cody Weiss. Roy Thomas was a creative editor on the story with Robert Greenberger as coordinating editor. This issue shipped with an August, 1986 cover date and carries a cover price of .75 cents per copy.

- The Crimson Avenger was created by writer and artist Jim Chambers. He first appeared in Detective Comics #20 in October, 1938. He is DC's first masked superhero, predating Batman by more than half a year.
- This issue is UPC barcode number 7098931766.
- This issue reproduces the cover to Detective Comics #22, which was the first Crimson Avenger cover feature.
- This is the last issue of the series in standard format. Beginning with issue #6, the title increases in page count, and features two stories per issue: One Golden Age character origin, and one Modern Age character origin.
- The main events from this issue take place in the year 1938. The flashback scenes take place in the year 1936.
