Scooby-Doo is the name of a fictional animated dog, as well as a multimedia franchise that includes the titular protagonist as well as his supporting cast. The character was created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears and first appeared in the pilot episode of the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Saturday morning animated television series by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The first episode, titled "What a Night, for a Knight", premiered on September 13th, 1969. Scooby-Doo and his companions have gone on to appear in numerous animated programs, as well as animated films, live-action feature films, comic books, video games and more. Scooby-Doo was first voiced by Don Messick, who did all of the character's vocals throughout the original cartoon runs throughout the 1970s. He is the most well-known voice actor associated with this character.
