The Scarecrow's fear toxin is a fictional chemical weapon featured in comic books published by DC Comics. It is associated with the Batman line of comic titles, and is utilized by the character of Jonathan Crane, aka the Scarecrow. The fear toxin made its first appearance in Batman #189 in February, 1967.
Description[]
The Scarecrow's fear toxin is a chemical solution developed by former teacher Jonathan Crane. It is a poisonous gas that causes massive hallucinations in those who inhale it. Specifically, it forced the victim to experience and/or re-live their greatest fears. This is Crane's primary weapon in his criminal career as the Scarecrow.
Notes[]
- The Scarecrow's fear toxin was introduced during the Silver Age era of DC's publishing history, in what has now been retroactively referred to as Earth-One continuity. Even though the origin of the Scarecrow was slightly re-tooled following the events of 1985-1986's Crisis on Infinite Earths, the presence and properties of the fear toxin has remained relatively unchanged.
