Sauncha is a fictional type of plant life featured in comic books published by DC Comics. It is associated with the Superman line of titles and first appeared in Action Comics #421 in February, 1973.
Sauncha is a type of seaweed that had been infused with extraterrestrial spores. Consuming sauncha imbued one with superhuman abilities. Such was the case with Captain Horatio Strong, who ate sauncha in order to gain superhuman strength and the ability to fly.
