Sando aqua monster

Sando aqua monsters are fictional creatures featured in the Star Wars multimedia franchise. They first appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Sando aqua monsters were giant sea creatures that lived underwater on the planet Naboo. They were enormous carnivores who were likely the top of their respective food chain, and ate smaller prey such as Opee sea killers. In 32 BBY, Jedi knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as the Gungan known as Jar Jar Binks traveled through the aquatic planetary core of Naboo in a Gungan Bongo submersible. They encountered several specimens of marine flora including an Opee sea killer, a Colo claw fish, and lastly, a Sando aqua monster. Qui-Gon commented on the nature of undersea predators by stating, "There's always a bigger fish". [1]

One Sando aqua monster surfaced near the capital city of Theed, and attacked the Naboo Royal boathouse. This was uncommon for these creatures, who preferred the deep ocean depths, but in this instance, the Sando in question was trying to recover its offspring, which had been captured by poachers and held inside the boathouse. Members of the Royal Naboo Security Forces, unaware of what was going on inside the boathouse, arrived on the scene and tried to drive the monster away with blaster fire. Queen Padmé Amidala arrived to assess the situation. Going inside the boathouse, she found the poachers and the mewling baby. She blasted the lines holding up the net, thus freeing the child. The baby was reunited with its parent, and both swam back out to sea. [2]
