Biography[]
Samuel King was a medical professional specializing in the study of sleep disorders. He worked at the Katja Institute in Springwood, Ohio. In the early 1980s, a woman named Marge Thompson brought her daughter Nancy in to see him after she had suffered through a string of intense night terrors following the recent murders of her friends Tina Gray and Rod Lane. Doctor King hooked her up to a machine and gave her something to help her sleep. Nancy protested, but King insisted that she needed to get some solid REM sleep or else she would risk further neurological disfunction. Studying her charts, Doctor King could not determine any pathology in her EEG. During her dream, Nancy was assaulted by the monstrous dream demon known as Freddy Krueger. As she grappled with Freddy, her body began convulsing. Doctor King and Nurse Donna Cooper rushed into the room to awaken her. Nancy found that she was able to grab onto Freddy's hat and pull it out of her dream.
