Samuel A. Peeples was an American television screenwriter born in American Fork, Utah on September 2nd, 1917. His early career was spent writing Western novels, but eventually turned his talents towards television beginnning with an episode of The Rifleman in 1958. Throughout the 1960s, Peeples wrote scripts for dozens of Western TV series such as Rawhide, Have Gun - Will Travel, Bat Masterson and Overland Trail. In 1966, he made his first contribution to the sci-fi genre penning the script for the second pilot episode of the Star Trek television series, "Where No Man Has Gone Before". He also wrote one episode of Star Trek: The Animated Series entitled "Beyond the Farthest Star". In 1977, he wrote five episodes of Space Academy and the following year, he scripted nine episodes of the live-action children's adventure series Jason of Star Command. In 1979, he wrote seven episodes of the Flash Gordon animated series. His final film role was writing the 1982 movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, for which he was uncredited. Peeple passed away in Santa Rosa, California on August 27th, 1997 at the age of 79.
