Ruby Hale is a fictional antagonist featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She appeared in season five of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where she was played by actress Dove Cameron. She was introduced in the episode "All the Comforts of Home".
Biography[]
Ruby Hale was the daughter of General Hale and an unidentified male sperm donor. She was bred to become the ultimate warrior serving the cause of Hydra, and trained to become the "Destroyer of Worlds" - a being believed to save the Earth from alien conquest. Ruby trained all of her life under her mother's strict guidance and supervision, surpassing all expectations. She was cunning and ruthless and sought nothing else but complete and total success in all of her ventures.
To accomplish this, Ruby was expected to bond with a volume of Gravitonium, but the process was still untested. General Hale had great reservations about the project, and feared for her daughter's safety. She wanted Carl Creel to be a test subject for the project, and even offered forth the notion of substituting S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Daisy Johnson in place of her daughter.
During an early run-in with S.H.I.E.L.D., Ruby Hale proved her ruthlessness by using a bladed weapon to sever Elena Rodriguez' arms off.
When Ruby learned that her mother was reconsidering her placement in the experiment, Ruby took it upon herself to see the original plan to fruition. Along with Werner von Strucker, she kidnapped Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons and forced them to perform the bonding procedure on her. Ruby only received 8% of the Gravitonium, but it was enough to drive her insane. She used her gravity powers to crush Werner von Strucker's head, then prepared to attack Leo and Jemma. Other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents arrived to rescue them and Elena Rodriguez avenged herself by slitting Ruby's throat, killing her.
