Ronald "Big Ronnie" DeFeo, Sr. was an actual businessman and the father of Ronald DeFeo, Jr., as well as four additional children. In addition to his alleged ties to organized crime, Big Ronnie is also known for being one of six family members murdered by son Ronnie, Jr. on November 13th, 1974. Ronnie's death played a key role in the development of what would become known as the Amityville Horror. The character made a behind-the-scenes appearance in the opening scenes of The Amityville Horror in 1979. He also appeared briefly in The Conjuring 2 in 2016 where he was played by Michael DeBartolo in an uncredited appearance.
