Ronald Joseph DeFeo, Jr. is an American mass murderer and family annihilator. He was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York on September 26th, 1951. Ronald DeFeo is best known for the shooting death of his parents and four younger siblings, which took place at the DeFeo home at 112 Ocean Avenue in the wee hours of November 13th, 1974. He was found guilty of six counts of second-degree murder and sentenced to six sentences of 25 years to life. Ronald DeFeo died in prison on March 12th, 2021 at the age of 69. The Ocean Avenue murders were the inspiration behind the so-called true haunting of 112 Ocean Avenue as depicted in the Jay Anson novel, The Amityville Horror, which was adapted into a feature film in 1979 also called The Amityville Horror. The DeFeo murders we re-imagined as the basis for that film's sequel, Amityville II: The Possession, and were also recounted by way of post-cognitive flashback in the opening scenes of The Conjuring 2 in 2016.
