Ronald Dowl Moore is an American television producer and screenwriter born in Chowchilla, California on July 5th, 1964. He is best known for his work on the Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica franchises. Moore's first work in the genre was a writer on the 1980s-1990s TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation. He wrote twenty-seven episodes of the series beginning with the season three episode "The Bonding". He also served as co-producer on fifty-two episodes of the series and producer on twenty-five episodes. He later served as supervising producer on sixty-four episodes of the spin-off series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and co-executive producer on another sixty-four episodes. Moore was a co-executive producer on two episodes of Star Trek: Voyager. He worked on "Equinox (Part 2)" and "Survival Instinct".

From 2000 to 2002, Ronald D. Moore was the co-executive producer on thirty-nine episodes of the TV series Roswell. Due to his work on Roswell, he was able to develop Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern as a pilot for The WB Network, but it was canceled before production began due to creative differences Moore had with Warner Brothers. From Roswell, Moore worked on the HBO series Carnivàle, but left after its first year.

In 2003, Ronald D. Moore began developing a re-imagining of the 1970s Glen A. Larson sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica. The show began as a two-part pilot/mini-series in 2003 and spun-off into a regular series in 2004. Battlestar Galactica aired for four-seasons and concluded production in 2009. Moore directed the season four episode "A Disquiet Follows My Soul".

Following the success of Battlestar Galactica, Moore helmed the 2010 spin-off series Caprica - a prequel series that revealed events that took place before Battlestar Galactica. The program did not receive strong ratings and was discontinued following it's first season.
