Description[]
Rogue Squadron was a military unit in service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War and later by the New Republic. It was formed by Rebel Alliance fighter pilot heroes Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles. The squadron was named for Rogue One - which was a Rebel infiltration unit that played a key role in securing schematics to the Death Star I battle station that resulted in the Alliance's first major victory against the First Galactic Empire. They were made up of pilots formerly part of the group known as Red Squadron.
Rogue Squadron was pressed into service during the Battle of Hoth, wherein Rebel Alliance pilots used T-47 airspeeders as support in a ground defense campaign against the Imperial Army, who attacked the Rebel's Echo Base using Imperial All Terrain Armored Transports. At this time the squadron was officially identified as Rogue Group.
