Notes & Trivia[]
- The character of Alex Murphy, aka RoboCop, and all related concepts were created by director Paul Verhoeven and writer Ed Neumeier based on a story concept by Michael Miner. The original film series consisted of three theatrically released feature films, plus a remake film in 2014. There have also been two animated spin-off series, as well as two-live action series.
- Actress Jenn Griffin is credited as Jennifer Griffin in this episode.
- Actor James Millington, who plays Mayor Friendly, is credited as Jim Millington in this episode.
- This is the final writing work for Lincoln Kibbee. Kibbee died in a drowning incident in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on August 9th, 1995 at the age of 42.
Allusions[]
- Plot elements from this episode are loosely based on the RoboCop: Prime Suspect comic book limited series, which was published by Dark Horse Comics and ran for four issues from October, 1992 to January, 1993.
- Reverend Bob Taker and wife Bambi Taker are lampoons of real-life televangelists Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye Bakker, who hosted the television program The PTL Club. In the late 1980s, Jim Bakker became a controversial figure for allegedly committing various accounting fraud felonies and even accusations of rape.
- Midway through the episode, Alex Murphy passes a sign that reads "Delorean/Utilities/Sub-Station". This is named for John DeLorean who manufactured the DMC DeLorean sports car in the early 1980s. A DeLorean was retrofitted as a time machine in the Back to the Future film series.
