Rob Dier is a fictional murder victim and a supporting character featured in the Friday the 13th film series. Played by actor E. Erich Anderson, he appeared in the 1984 film sequel Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.
Biography[]
Rob Dier lived in Wessex County, New Jersey in the early 1980s. He was the older brother of teenager Sandra Dier. Sandra, along with her boyfriend Jeff, had been brutally murdered by hooded killer Jason Voorhees, who impaled both of them with a spear while they were mid-coitus. [2]
Within the span of only a few days, news of Sandra's death circulated the local media outlets. When Rob became aware of this, he mounted a personal hunting expedition into the woods of Crystal Lake Township in search of his sister's killer.
Along the way, he befriended Trish Jarvis and her younger brother Tommy and assisted them with some meager automotive repairs as their vehicle was broken down on the road. Afterward, Tommy invited Rob back to their home, where he briefly met their mother Tracy Jarvis before being dragged upstairs by Tommy so the boy could show off his collection of homemade fright masks.
Rob remained in town until the following evening, camping out in the woods as he continued his search for Jason Voorhees. He grew closer to Trish and the stirrings of a potential relationship began brewing between them. Rob confided in Trish and told her the real reason he was backpacking through the woods near Camp Crystal Lake.
Rob quickly discovered that the murders were still continuing as Trish and he learned about several deaths that took place at a neighboring house. When Trish discovered the corpse of a man named Doug, she ran downstairs to warn Rob. Jason Voorhees finally appeared and attacked Rob in the basement. He pinned him to the wall and hacked away at him with garden tools until he was dead. Jason later threw Rob's corpse through a window. [3]

Notes & Trivia[]
- The character of Rob Dier was created by director Joseph Zito and screenwriters Barney Cohen and Bruce Hidemi Sakow.
- Actor Erich Anderson was credited as E. Erich Anderson in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.
- Rob Dier is the thirteenth victim of Jason Voorhees killed in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. He is also the last victim in the film not counting Jason himself. He is the thirty-fifth canonical murder victim of Jason Voorhees in the entire franchise. [4]
- In the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th, there is a character named Clay Miller, who is similar to Rob in that he is searching for the truth behind the disappearance of his sister, Whitney. There are stark differences as well however, in that the Dier siblings are both killed by Jason Voorhees, and the Miller siblings both survive.
- Comically, Rob can be heard screaming "He's killing me!" while being hacked up by Jason Voorhees.
- Although the films where Sandra and Rob Dier are killed were released several years apart, the timeline of the series shows that they are only separated by about two days. It is highly unlikely that local media would release the identity of Sandra Dier (a minor), thereby giving Rob enough time to prepare for a hunting expedition in the woods.
- Rob Dier is featured as a character in the 2017 survival horror game Friday the 13th: The Video Game. Rob, however, is not a playable character and is only seen in the intro video for every round where he is murdered by Jason as the remaining counselors flee in terror.
