Biography[]
Rita-Anne Smith was an elderly woman who lived in London, England. She was the mother of Jackson Smith and the grandmother of Mickey Smith. Around the year 2001, Rita-Anne suffered a fatal injury from falling down a staircase in her home after tripping on a torn piece of stair carpeting. She broke her neck and was killed instantly.
On a parallel Earth, Rita-Anne Smith did not die from such an accident. She was the grandmother of Ricky Smith, who was that world's counterpart to Mickey. Ricky was a freedom fighter in league with the Preachers, and spent many of his nights away from home with his allies in their struggle to take down Cybus Industries. He frequently forgot to call his grandmother, which caused her no end of worry. Mickey Smith came to this reality and was overjoyed to learn that his grandmother was still alive in that world. He visited her, but maintained the pretense of being her grandson from that world. [6] He noticed the torn piece of carpeting and promised to repair it for her. Ricky Smith died soon after during an altercation with the Cybermen. Mickey Smith elected to stay behind on this world to continue Ricky's work and to look after Rita-Anne. [7]
