Richard Curtis Van Sloan is a fictional pulp hero detective and the main character featured in The Phantom Detective line of magazine stories. He was created by D.L. Champion and first appeared in The Phantom Detective #1 in February, 1933. In addition to a 170 issue run of his own magazine series, the Phantom Detective made regular appearances in Thrilling Comics beginning with issue #53 in April, 1946.
