Return of the Monsters is a series of one-shot comic book specials of the Pulp heroes and Horror genre. There were four issues published under this brand by Moonstone and they were released in November, 2011 and February, 2012. Each issue spotlights a pulp action hero facing off against a horror monster character or archetype.

- Dan Brereton was the cover artist on all four one-shots.
- The Phantom Detective, whose real name is Richard Curtis Van Loan was created by D.L. Champion and first appeared in The Phantom Detective #1 in February, 1933.
- The Spider, whose real name is Richard Wentworth was created by Harry Steeger. He first appeared in the story "The Spider Strikes" featured in The Spider #1 magazine series in October, 1933.
- Domino Lady, whose real name is Ellen Patrick, was the main character in a series of stories originally published in the Saucy Romantic Adventures magazine series. Multiple creators crafted her features under the house name of "Lars Anderson". Domino Lady stories were published by Fiction Magazines beginning in May, 1936.
- The Black Bat, whose real name is Anthony Quinn was created by Norman A. Daniels under the pen name G. Wayman Jones. He first appeared in Black Book Detective by Thrilling Publications in July, 1939.
- Dracula was created by Irish author Bram Stoker. He is the titular antagonist of Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula, which was inspired by an actual Wallachian nobleman known as Vlad II, aka Vlad the Impaler.
- Frankenstein, and all related characters, are based on concepts developed by English author Mary Shelley's as presented in her 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus. The Frankenstein story has since been adapted and expanded upon in numerous films, novels, comic books and television projects.
- The Mummy and Werewolf characters that appear in these issues are original characters created by writer Nancy Holder and artist Bobby Nash (The Mummy) and writer Martin Gram and artist Jay Piscopo (The Werewolf).
