Resident Alien is an American live-action television series of the science fiction and comedy genres. It is based on the Resident Alien series of comic book titles created by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, which were published by Dark Horse Comics, beginning in 2012. The program was developed for television by Chris Sheridan. It began airing for a ten-episode initial season on January 27th, 2021. The series stars Alan Tudyk, who assumes the physicality of a town doctor named Harry Vanderspeigle from Patience, Colorado. The alien comes to Earth with the intent of destroying humanity, but loses his Doomsday device when his space ship crashes. Stuck on Earth, the alien assumes the identity of Harry Vanderspeigle and must try to blend in with the townies. Though committed to his genocidal mission, he also finds himself at a moral crossroads as he spends more and more time around humans. Resident Alien also stars Sara Tomko as nursing assistant Asta Twelvetrees, Corey Reynolds as Sheriff Mike "Big Black" Thompson, Alice Wetterlund as bartender D'Arcy Bloom, Levi Fiehler as young mayor Ben Hawthorne, and Judah Prehn as Ben's son, Max Hawthorne, who has the ability to see "Harry" in his true form.
