Reptilian refers to the physical and biological attributes of reptiles, and/or alien races that possess characteristics similar to that of a reptile. Reptiles are traditionally cold-blooded vertebrate animals that birth their young through laying eggs. Reptiles have scaly skin as opposed to other members of the animal kingdom and may possess the ability to regenerate lost or damaged tissue as well as being amphibious.
Examples of reptilian alien races include the Visitors from the V television franchise, as well as the Saurids from the Marvel Universe reality as seen in titles published by Marvel Comics. There are also the Gorns, who gained no small measure of notoriety several decades ago when one of them swapped punches with Captain James T. Kirk in the "Arena" episode of Star Trek. The Sleestak race, as seen on the children's series Land of the Lost, possess both reptilian and insectoid features.
