The Real Ghostbusters is a comic book limited series of the science fiction, fantasy and comedy genres. It is the third series produced under this title and is based on The Real Ghostbusters animated television series, which in turn is based on the popular Ghostbusters feature film from 1984. The series was produced by NOW Comics and ran for four issues from November, 1981 to February, 1992.
After entering the dream world, the Ghostbusters are each teleported to a different place and time. Winston goes to Ancient Greece, where he meets the Minotaur. Ray ends up in Scotland, where he must face the Loch Ness Monster. Peter ends up in France, where he has to battle the ghost of Joan of Arc. Egon ends up having to confront the Sphinx in Ancient Egypt.

- Ghostbusters was created by writer and executive producer Harold Ramis along with screenwriter Dan Aykroyd. It was brought to life as a feature film in 1984 by director Ivan Reitman and spawned a sequel named Ghostbusters II in 1989, also directed by Reitman. A remake film, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call was released in 2016 and directed by Paul Feig. Another film installment, Ghostbusters: Afterlife which continues the original continuity, was released in 2021 and was helmed by Ivan Reitman's son, Jason Reitman. The Ghostbusters franchise has also spun-out several animated projects as well as comic book titles and merchandise.

- Stories from this series are reprinted from the The Real Ghostbusters U.K. comic magazine published by Marvel Comics.
- This is the final Ghostbusters licensed comic book series published by NOW Comics. It is also the final Ghostbusters comic book project for the next sixteen years until IDW Publishing picks up the license.
