Rayne is a fictional monster hunter and the main character featured in the BloodRayne video game series, as well as it related spin-off media. She first appeared in the 2002 BloodRayne video game produced by Majesco Entertainment and Vivendi Universal. She was voiced by Laura Bailey in the game. A live-action version of the character appeared in the 2005 feature film adaptation of BloodRayne by director Uwe Boll. She was played by actress Kristanna Loken in the film. For the film's direct sequels, BloodRayne: Deliverance and BloodRayne: The Third Reich, she was played actress Natassia Malthe. Rayne has also appeared in comic book spin-offs published by Digital Webbing. She first appeared in BloodRayne: Skies Afire #1 in December, 2004.
Biography[]
A vampire named Kagan had raped and impregnated a woman who gave birth to a daughter named Mary Gallo. As such, Mary was a hybrid cross between human and vampire known as a dhampir. As she grew into adulthood, she walked a path of vengeance, searching for the vampire who raped and murdered her mother. She eventually found a former Dhampir named Declan Finney, who outfitted her with twin blades and helped her join the Brimstone Society.
