Ray Carling is a fictional astronaut featured in the short-lived ABC television series Life on Mars, which is a remake of the British television series of the same name. Although the character is an astronaut, he is prominently seen in a dream-state wherein he is presented as a detective for the New York City Police Department. On the U.S. series, the character was played by actor Michael Imperioli and first appeared in the pilot episode, "Out Here in the Fields".
