Ramonda is a fictional queen and a recurring character featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. She is part of the mainstream Marvel Universe and is associated with the Black Panther line of titles. She first appeared in Marvel Comics Presents #14 in March, 1989. A version of the character has also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Played by actress Angela Bassett, she appeared in the 2018 feature film adaptation of Black Panther.
Biography[]
Ramonda was a middle-aged African woman who hailed from the sovereign nation of Wakanda. She was the second wife of the late king, T'Chaka and served as the queen mother, later the full queen of Wakanda. She had one child with T'Chaka, who was Shuri. She was the stepmother to T'Chaka's sons from a previous marriage, T'Challa and Jakarra.
