Biography[]
R. Franklin was a tall Caucasian male who was a serial killer in the late 1960s. Apparently, he had a bad experience involving mercury from a broken thermometer, which developed into a deep hatred of caregivers.
In 1968, R. Franklin came to the door of 1119 Westchester Place, complaining of injuries. One of the tenants of the house, Maria brought him inside and set him on the couch. As Maria examined him, she detected that R. Franklin did not have any injuries. R. Franklin noticed a crucifix hanging from Maria's neck and asked her if she thought she could be saved. Displeased with Maria's response of "I already am", he bashed her across the head with a heavy ashtray. Another medical student, Gladys, entered the room, and R. Franklin grabbed her, and dragged her upstairs where he proceded to drown her in a bathtub.
Back downstairs, Maria awakened on the couch, and found R. Franklin staring at her. He threw a nurse's uniform at her and asked her if she still thought she could be saved, forcing her to put the uniform on. As the tearful Maria began reciting a prayer, R. Franklin stabbed her multiple times in the back, killing her. [1]

Notes & Trivia[]
- The character of R. Franklin was created by series showrunners & writers Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk and director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.
- The final fate of R. Franklin is unknown. It is quite possible that he is still alive in the modern era. This would explain why he is not one of the special invited guests to the Hotel Cortez in the "Devil's Night" episode from season five, which was a party of famous deceased serial killers.
- R. Franklin's character and murders were inspired by the case of real life American mass murderer Richard Speck, who was a mass murderer from Chicago, who killed eight student nurses on the nights of July 13th-14th, 1966. [2]
- Bianca Forest believed that R. Franklin was the first modern serial killer to "change the culture", even before Charles Manson.
- The ghosts of both of R. Franklin's victims, Maria and Gladys are trapped inside the Murder House.
