Biography[]
Quorl Matrin was once a member of the Imperial Senate and worked alongside other notable dignitaries including Senator Leia Organa of Alderaan. After Emperor Palpatine abolished the senate, Matrin was absorbed into the Galactic Empire's command structure and made governor of the Outer Rim world of Stenos.
Matrin was able to operate on Stenos despite the presence of the planet's native populace, the savage, winged warriors, the Stenaxes. At this point in their history, the Stenaxes were a humbled race due to the absence of an ancient artifact that they believed housed the spirit of their god, Vol. Matrin knew of the statue's existence, but it had gone missing thousands of years ago following a groundquake.
In [[3 ABY}], Matrin hired three fortune hunters named Rik Duel, Dani and Chihdo to search for the artifact for his personal collection. Rik and his crew came across members of the Rebel Alliance, which now included former smuggler Han Solo, Jedi-in-training Luke Skywalker and Matrin's old colleague Leia Organa. Rik manipulated them into helping them find the idol, never revealing that his employer was the Imperial governor of the planet. Once they recovered the statue of Vol, Rik betrayed Han and the others, reporting them to Matrin's Stormtrooper squadrons as criminals. When Rik went to deliver the idol to Quorl, he heard Duel conspiring with Dani and Chihdo to betray him. Before Rik could renigue on their deal, Matrin swiped the idol from his hands.
When the Stenaxes learned that their revered god had returned to them, they took to the skies for the first time in centuries. A swarm of them swooped down on Governor Matrin and took back the statue of Vol. It is believed that the Stenaxes killed Governor Matrin at this time. [1]
