Queenie is a fictional witch and one of the main characters featured on the TV anthology series American Horror Story. She was a key character from the season three storyline, "Coven". Played by actress Gabourey Sidibe, she first appeared in episode 3x01, "Bitchcraft".
Biography[]
Queenie was a young woman with a natural affinity towards witchcraft. She claimed to be a descendant of Tituba - a black slave accused of witchcraft back in the 17th century. Queenie was a human voodoo doll, who could cause pain to others by inflicting damage upon herself. After working as a short fry cook in a fast food restaurant for a time, Queenie's abilities earned the attention of the staff at Miss Robichaux's Academy in New Orleans. She was recruited as a student at the school where she learned that one of the charges, whose identity was unknown at the time, was destined to become the new Supreme of the New Orleans Coven.
The current Supreme of the Coven, Fiona Goode, resurrected the immortal 18th century slave-owner, Madame Delphine LaLaurie, and forced her into servitude at the school where she became Queenie's personal slave. LaLaurie manipulated Queenie into believing that these Salem witches did not have her best interests at heart, and that they would never allow her to become the next Supreme. This drove Queenie to take up shelter with Fiona Goode's rival - the infamous and immortal Voodoo queen of New Orleans, Marie Laveau. Queenie worked at Laveau's hair salon, Cornrow City, for a time, but returned to Miss Robichaux's after surviving an assault by a witch hunter named Hank Foxx.
At Miss Robichaux's, Queenie helped the other witches survive an attack by a psychopath known as the Axeman. She also participated in the ritual of the Seven Wonders and survived. When Cordelia Goode, Fiona's daughter, became the new Supreme, she opened the school up publicly and appointed an inner council. Queenie became one of the inner circle members of the revitalized school.
Queenie later came to the Hotel Cortez as she waited to appear on an episode of The Price is Right. However, Queenie ironically chose the worst possible time to check into the hotel as Liz Taylor and Iris were getting ready to find a human victim for Ramona Royale who claimed that she needed another kill to feel alive. As Queenie went into the bathroom of her hotel room, she was attacked by Ramona who discovered Queenie was a witch and a human voodoo doll whose injuries would be transferred over to Ramona. Queenie grabbed a shard of broken glass and prepared to slit herself in order to finish off Ramona but she was critically injured when being stabbed in the chest by James March, who had no weakness to Queenie's injury transference as he was a ghost. Ramona then pounced on Queenie and ripped out her throat, drinking her blood.
Powers and Skilss[]
Queenie is a natural witch of the Salem lineage, being a descendant of Tituba. In addition to her natural gift as a voodoo doll, she has also managed to master four of the Seven Wonders.
- Telekinesis: One of the seven wonders, the magical ability to move things with the mind. When Queenie and Cordelia went to rescue Misty Day at the cemetery, Queenie was the one who freed the witch by destroying the grave bricks containing the coffin. When the academy was attacked by the Barbarian, Queenie, along with the other witches, threw him away with a telekinetic wave. In the seven wonders test, Queenie managed to move a candlestick that was on the other side of the table into her hand.
- Concilium: One of the seven wonders, the magical ability to bend the will of others and make them do what you want. It is commonly known as mind control. Queenie managed to control Misty Day into pulling her own hair during the test.
- Transmutation: One of the seven wonders, the magical ability to move from one space to another in an instant without having to physically move. It is commonly known as teleportation. Together with Madison and Zoe, Queenie teleported to various places in the gym and around the garden playing den as a way of relaxing the test.
- Descensum: One of the seven wonders, the magical ability to project your spirit out of your physical body and into the underworld, your personal hell. An incantation is required to perform the Descensum: " Spiritu duce, in me est. Deduce me in tenebris vita ad extremum, ut salutaret inferi. Descensum ". The first time Queenie used the descensum spell was to contact Papa Legba, where she found the demon in his private hell simulating the worst moment of her life, managing to quickly return before she was trapped there. The second time she used this power was during the test of the seven wonders, being the first to return. Queenie is potentially the most talented witch with this power among the academy's new students.
- Injury Transfer: Queenie has the magical gift of being a "human voodoo doll", being able to transfer physical damage from her body to that of her target, but only the damage caused by Queenie herself can be transferred. Your wounds regenerate after being transferred. She first demonstrated her power when she stabbed a fork into her hand to injure Madison's hand. She also slit the throat of Delphine's zombie daughter, tortured Spaulding with a superheated spatula, and killed Hank by shooting himself in the head. In Revelation, she tried to kill Mrs Mead by cutting her throat, but the villain didn't die because she was an android.
- Divination: In Hotel Cortez episode 11 'Battle Royal' Queenie makes a appearance in that episode where we see her checking in for a stay at the hotel thats when she gets bad feelings as she explores the room but it's too late because she gets attacked by Ramona Royale but holds her own in the fight.

- ↑ Although it appears that Queenie is killed in "Battle Royale", she does not appear as a ghost at the hotel, which offers up the possibility that she may have somehow survived. As there is no hard evidence of this however, the notion of Queenie still being alive is more akin to fan speculation at best, and wishful thinking at worst.
