The Punisher is an American feature film of the action genre. It is based on the character of Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, who is seen in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Punisher's first live-action film is brought to you by director Mark Goldblatt with Boaz Yakin as screenwriter. The film was produced by Marvel Entertainment and New World Pictures and premiered in West Germany on October 5th, 1989. Portraying the gun-slinging vigilante in this venture is Dolph Lundgren with Louis Gossett, Jr. co-starring as Jake Berkowitz.
