Project Armageddon is a fictional concept featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are associated with the X-Men line of comic book titles and first appeared in The X-Men #96 in December, 1975.
Project Armageddon was a top secret military program headed up by a man named Steven Lang. They maintained a base of operations in the Adirondack Mountains where Lang expanded upon the work of Doctor Bolivar Trask, who initiated the creation of the Sentinel program. Steven Lang intended on using the Sentinels to wipe out mutantkind. Steven Lang once described Project Armageddon as "The final ultimate conflict between Homo Sapiens and Homo Superior -- between man and mutant!"
A United States Air Force colonel named Michael Rossi discovered Lang's hidden agenda within Project Armageddon and threatened to expose him. As such, Lang attempted to have Rossi killed, but the officer survived.
