"Underworld" is the thirty-first issue of the supernatural drama comic book series Preacher published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint. It was written by Garth Ennis with artwork and inks by Steve Dillon. It was colored by Pamela Rambo and lettered by Clem Robins. The cover art illustration was rendered by Glenn Fabry.   • Bill Hicks appears in flashback in this issue. Bill Hicks was an actual stand-up comedian known for his controversial opinions on social issues ranging from politics to religion and popular culture. Hicks passed away from pancreatic cancer on February 26th, 1994 at the age of 32. Jesse Custer indicates that he had met Hicks a couple of months prior to his death, which would make the flashback scenes in this issue as taking place in late 1993.
  • This is the first appearance of Les Enfants du Sang, which is a vampire wannabe cult.
  • This is the first appearance of Gene Sergeant, who is a record producer. He takes note of Arseface's performance in New Orleans.
