- Bill Hicks appears in flashback in this issue. Bill Hicks was an actual stand-up comedian known for his controversial opinions on social issues ranging from politics to religion and popular culture. Hicks passed away from pancreatic cancer on February 26th, 1994 at the age of 32. Jesse Custer indicates that he had met Hicks a couple of months prior to his death, which would make the flashback scenes in this issue as taking place in late 1993.
