Pre-Crisis is an unofficial term used to describe a particular publishing era as it relates to comic books published by DC Comics. The term applies to titles, characters, locations and events that were featured in the mainstream continuity of the DC Universe prior to the publication of the 1985-1986 maxi-series event Crisis on Infinite Earths. The penultimate chapter of this series saw the reconstruction of the internal reality of the series, which effectively cherry-picked desireable elements from previous settings and packaged them into a brand new continuity. DC Comics titles relating to the superhero fantasy genre that existed prior to the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths primarily take place in the Earth-One continuity and were published during the Silver Age era of comic book publishing. Material published during the 1940s, traditionally referred to as the Golden Age era, were retroactively attributed to a reality dubbed Earth-Two.
