Pownal is a town located in the Bennington County in the US state of Vermont. It is a largely rural community found in the southwestern tip of the state. In the continuity of DC Comics, Pownal is the location of the Frazier farm owned by Mary Frazier, who is the mother of Ellen Frazier and mother-in-law to Buddy Baker, aka the superhero known as Animal Man. In comic book continuity, Pownal first appeared in Animal Man, Volume 1 #41.
