Power absorption is a super-power with multiple definitions. At its most basic, it represents a person of item's ability to siphon power in its most basic form, usually energy. This power can then be used to energize the functions of whatever absorbs it. It may also reflect the ability to absorb, and thus duplicate the super-powers of another individual.
In Marvel Comics continuity, this is a power possessed by the mutant known as Rogue. Through physical contact, she can absorb the abilities, knowledge and memories of whomever she touches. In her youth, Rogue had no ability to control these powers, and though the effect was usually a temporary transition, there was always the risk of permanent absorption.
