A politician is someone who holds a position in a government office. Often these people are elected officials, but may also be appointed to their positions by another elected official of higher authority. By and large, politicians are crooks and are not worthy of trust. Just ask Obi-Wan. He was quite vocal in his dislike for anyone working the political circuit, in particular, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.
