Plant control is the ability to control plant life to varying degrees. This can range from manipulating a small pool of algae to causing an entire forest to spontaneously grow within a populated urban center.

In DC Comics there have been several characters who have demonstrated this ability, the most notable of whom is Alec Holland, aka the Swamp Thing. Through scientific processes, Alec Holland's consciousness was displaced into a shell of vegetative matter. He became the Earth elemental and the champion of the ecosphere. Alec could shift his consciousness any place where plant life existed, even into microbes. He could produce additional mass for his own body by drawing upon vegetative matter from his vicinity.

Two more characters in the DC Universe with this ability are Jason Woodrue, the Floronic Man and his former colleague, Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy.

The Marvel Comics super-villain, Samuel Smithers, had the ability to control plant life. Once he was human, but has since mutated into a being composed entirely of vegetable matter. He draws his power by tapping into the Earth's biosphere, which he refers to as the Verdant Green.

In the 2002 sci-fi film Minority Report, the character of Doctor Iris Hineman demonstrated limited ability with this. Through scientific means, she appears to have cultivated a living fine that seemed to have carnivorous tendencies.

And less we forget - everyone's favorite pudgy long-necked alien E.T. caused a flower to grow with his glowing red finger.
