"When the Calliope Cries Death" is the title to the first story from issue #16 of the Planet of the Apes comic book magazine published by Marvel Comics and Curtis Magazines. The series is based on the popular Planet of the Apes film franchise produced by Arthur P. Jacobs and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. It was written by Doug Moench with artwork by Rico Rival. The second story is called "And Who Shall Inherit the Meek?" and is the final chapter in this title's film adaptation of Escape from the Planet of the Apes. It was also crafted by Doug Moench and Rico Rival. This issue shipped with a January, 1976 cover date and carries a cover price of .75 cents per copy.
