"When the Lawgiver Returns..." is the title to the first story from issue #11 of the Planet of the Apes comic book magazine published by Marvel Comics and Curtis Magazines. The series is based on the popular Planet of the Apes film franchise produced by Arthur P. Jacobs and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. It was written by Doug Moench with artwork by Mike Ploog. The second story is called "The Hell of Holocaust" and is also written by Doug Moench with artwork by Alfredo Alcala. The cover art illustration was rendered by Gray Morrow. This issue shipped with an August, 1975 cover date and carries a cover price of $1.00 per copy.

- The Planet of the Apes franchise was first created by French novelist Pierre Boulle, who wrote the novel La Planete des singes in 1963. The concept was retooled by famed science fiction author Rod Serling and brought to life as a feature film in 1968, directed by Franklin J. Schaffner and written by Serling and Michael Wilson. This inaugural film spawned four sequels, a live-action TV series, and animated series, and several remakes.
