Continuity: | Real world |

A pirate ship is an old-timey boat used by pirates. Sure, modern day pirates used them as well, but these aren't really what we mean when we think of "pirate ship". Pirate ships are known for having decks that need to be swabbed, planks that need to be walked, keels that need to be hauled and special attention given to one particular deck which is apparently exclusively for pooping. The heyday of the pirate was between the 15th-18th centuries, where sailors and criminals would take to the high seas in their crusty old Spanish galleons. Some of the best pirate ships are known for having intricately carved maidenheads, and of course the jolly roger flag, which consisted of a skull and crossbones set against a black background. Once a pirate ship has outlived its usefulness, it would scuttled and sent to the drowning abyss of the deep, which also happens to be where some chap named Davy Jones keeps his locker.
