- The character of Pilot was created by series developer Rockne S. O'Bannon and director Andrew Prowse.
- Voice actor Lani Tupu also played the role of antagonist Bialar Crais. Though he was credited for his on-screen performances as Crais, he was uncredited as the voice of Pilot.
- Farscape actor Ben Browder was unaware that co-star Lani Tupu, who normally plays Bialar Crais, also provided the voice for Pilot until the end of production on season one. [3]
- Puppeteer Sean Masterson also operated the facial movements for the NamTar puppet in the Farscape episode "DNA Mad Scientist".
