Phineas T. Mason, also known as the Tinkerer, is a fictional criminal and a recurring antagonist featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is associated with the Spider-Man line of titles and first appeared in the second story from The Amazing Spider-Man #2 in May, 1963 titled "The Uncanny Threat of the Terrible Tinkerer!" A version of the character also appeared in the 2017 feature film Spider-Man: Homecoming where he was played by actor Michael Chernus.
Biography[]
Phineas T. Mason was an elderly man from New York City, New York. He was a criminal inventor who was known as the Tinkerer. Mason was known for outfitting many of New York's underworld figures and members of the super-villain community with various weapons and gadgets, including members of the Masters of Evil. His efforts were usually confounded by the involvement of the costumed hero known as Spider-Man.
