Philippus is a fictional warrior and a supporting character featured in comic books published by DC Comics. She first appeared in Wonder Woman, Volume 2 #1 in February, 1987. The character has appeared in alternate media as well, including episodes of the Justice League animated series and the Wonder Woman feature film where she was played by actress Ann Ogbomo.
Biography[]
Philippus was a dark-skinned Amazon warrior from the island nation of Themyscira. She followed the rule of Queen Hippolyta and served as the captain of the royal guard. She was Hippolyta's top military official as well as her top advisor. Philippus played a major hand in the martial combat training of Hippolyta's daughter, Princess Diana. With the abolishing of the Amazon monarchy, Philippus was elected to the position of chancellor.
