Peru is a country in western South America. It is bordered on the north by Ecuador and Colombia, on the east by Brazil, on the southeast by Bolivia, on the south by Chile, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.
In the short-lived 1980s TV series The Phoenix, the main character, Bennu of the Golden Light, was an alien who had been trapped in a sarcophagus no the planet Earth for many years before being discovered in Peru. [1]
On Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a S.H.I.E.L.D. special ops team traveled to Peru to recover an 0-8-4 (object of unknown origin), that had been imbedded in the wall of a pyramid ever since the 1940s. The team determined that the item may have been built by HYDRA during World War II and it was powered by a fuel cell comprised of both tesseract energy and gamma radiation. The team recovered the device, but a Policía Militar de Perú unit tried to steal it from them aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. mobile command center en route back to the United States. [2]
On the science fiction television series Defiance, Peru was where the Votanis Collective maintained its headquarters. It often sent military contingents and diplomatic delegations to North America to negotiate peace accords with the Earth Republic, or to clean up their own messes, such as when General Rahm Tak's scouting expedition went rogue in Oklahoma. Vice Chancellor Silora Voske was based out of Peru. [3]
