Pearl was a young fair-skinned woman long dark hair. At the age of nineteen, she took up employment at Arkham Asylum and began working in the kitchens. One evening on April 1st, the Joker released all of the patients, and captured the staff. He then telephoned Gotham City Police Headquarters to issue a challenge to Batman. While on the phone with him, he pretended to drive a pencil through Pearl's eye and she began screaming in terror. When Batman finally got to Arkham, he found that she was alive and perfectly intact, to which the Joker replied "April Fools!" (Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth)
