Paul Edgecomb is a fictional prison guard and a supporting character featured in the works of author Stephen King. He appeared in the 1996 serialized novel The Green Mile, as well as The Green Mile feature film directed by Frank Darabont in 1999. He was played by actor Tom Hanks in the film. Actor Dabbs Greer played an elderly Paul Edgecomb in the framing story.
Biography[]
Paul Edgecomb was a prison guard and supervisor of the Death Row inmates at Cold Mountain Penitentiary in the 1930s. In 1935, he met a prisoner who would change his life forever - John Coffey.
