Description[]

Park Row plays a crucial role in the origin of the Batman. While still a young boy, Bruce Wayne was walking home from a movie theater with his parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, when they were accosted by a mugger named Joe Chill. Chill shot Thomas Wayne and Martha died of fright (in some variations of the story, Martha is shot as well). The terrified young boy could do nothing but knee beside the corpses of his parents as their murderer ran off into the night. In the years since this incident, Park Row has since become nicknamed, "Crime Alley". The deaths of his parents inspired young Bruce to become a costumed crime-fighter and he eventually took on the persona of the Dark Knight detective, the Batman. Every year, Bruce Wayne visits the spot where his parents were murdered, oftentimes laying down a rose for each of them in their memory.
