Paradiso was a mining colony on the terraformed world of Ezra in the Georgia System. It was located a short train ride distance from the community of Hancock. In the year 2517, the crew of Serenity were hired to steal some cargo from a freight train bound for Paradiso. They executed the job, but only found out later that they were stealing crates of Pescaline D, a badly-needed drug that the people of Paradiso needed to fight off the effects of Bowden's Malady. Serenity 's captain Mal Reynolds and his first officer Zoe Washburne went undercover in Paradiso and met with Sheriff Bourne who told them about the theft and why they needed the drugs so badly.
